Workshops
Beeswax workshop with Bij & Bloeien
Join us for a hands on workshop crafting natural, beeswax based products inspired by the botanical treasures of the Holy Land. We will explore the art of oil infusion, benefits of beeswax and herbs, and herbs from the time and places Jesus walked and create two take home items.
Joy in the Real World
Isaiah tells us, “[We] will go out in joy and be led forth in peace…” Yet the world we live in often feels anything but joyful or peaceful. In this workshop, we’ll explore how we can experience and cultivate lasting joy in Christ, even when life doesn’t match our expectations. We’ll also consider what the Bible teaches about dealing with disappointment and finding hope when reality and our hopes feel out of step.
Hands in the Kitchen: Make your own snack bar made of whole ingredients
God called his creation good: soil, seeds, plants, our bodies. Together, we will explore what that means from a nutritional perspective and how we can honour this simple truth through making delicious and nourishing personalised snack bars that you can eat straight away or bring back home.
Contemplating the context of ‘the well-watered garden’
This interactive workshop will explore the concepts of Restoration I Refreshment I Rest in the context of Isaiah 58, focusing on the significance of verse 11: "You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." She will share stories of living life in community in Utrecht and further afield.
Emma van der Deijl is the CEO of Gender and Religious Freedom, member of the exec team of ARISE “Investing in women for leadership across Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and beyond”. As part of OVERHOOP living community Utrecht, Emma is passionate about the global-local church and about living in community as a way of living out Jesus’ new command to love each other as he loved us.
Redwork Stitching
Come and experience the joy of using simple stitches to create something beautiful and useful. Keeping your fingers active with the rhythmic motions of stitching can be a refreshing way to slow your mind, while being creative. Using red thread, we will embroider a motif onto a bag or pouch. All materials are provided (though do bring your reading glasses if you need them for close work). The techniques are simple. No previous sewing experience is required.
Exploring Your True Self
In this workshop there will be times of input, interaction and also self-reflection. We will consider our experiences in relationships and the world, and explore how these have influenced our beliefs and feelings, and developed our mindset about God, ourselves and others. We will take steps to unravel some of our beliefs about ourselves, which may be false beliefs absorbed from sin we experienced in the world, and tune into our true self, the person that was loved into existence by God. There will be input from biblical truth and consideration of the writings of Richard Rohr & David Benner. Please note, this workshop may lead you to face the layers of yourself that are uncomfortable.
